Lone Elk is free to the public and has a wild bird sanctuary too, where during viewing hours one can see bald eagles, red-tailed hawks, horned owls and a few other exotic raptors up close. With Carlos in the backpack we hiked the Bison trail that cuts in and out of the hilly terrain and were lucky enough to walk up on some Elk (tame) resting in the forest.
Carlos, while exploring the trail carried various sticks, leaves and enjoyed hugging the trees. At one point though, Meg had to quickly snatch away some Elk dung as Carlos brought it to his lips. BLEAH!
Since the weather has turned colder again, Meg and I were glad that we got outside this weekend rather than working on our never ending "to-do's."
