Johnson Shut-ins State Park, Missouri
After I returned from Camp Shelby MS, and Maxwell AFB, Meghan had arranged for us to stay a couple nights at the Johnson Shut-ins State Park a couple hours south of St Louis. The park is along the East Fort Black River with numerous hiking trails and camping sites available. We stayed in a nice cabin, which was perfect for our comfort level with an (almost) 2 year old. We explored along the river and played in the water, Meg and I took turns jumping off of the rocks into the deeper parts of the river. Carlos enjoyed himself throwing rocks along the river.

As it has warmed up this summer, the sprinkler has come in handy to entertain and keep us cool.
Here are just a couple of snap shots from our backyard.
Around St Louis
Just this past weekend we hosted Meg's cousins Jamie and Phil, it gave us a chance to play tour-guide and take them to some of our favorite St Louis spots. We of course hit up Ted Drews for some frozen custard, unfortunately Gus's Pretzels was closed, but we'll save that for the next trip.
We saw the largest collection of mosaics in the world at St Louis Cathedral Basilica and then went to take fun photos at the Arch before they left.
Meg's brother Peter is in town until next month, so more photos to come of adventures with uncle Pete.
Looks like you are having a wonderful summer! I miss you. Carlos looks like so much fun, I can't wait to meet him! Love and hugs.
ReplyDeleteThat last picture is pretty cool!
ReplyDeleteWe're thinking about visiting Johnson's Shut-ins with our little children, so it was nice to come across your blog and see that other families have had good experiences there with young children. Thanks for sharing!
Oh, and the picture of your little boy on the Lab is too cute!
